Senior Regulatory Counsel
What is the role about?
As a Senior Regulatory Counsel, you will help Bitvavo towards the next phase in our growth as a regulated firm. With MiCAR coming, there will be unique opportunities for you to strengthen our legal framework, act as an internal knowhow centre to all departments of the company, as well as implement appropriate measures and control to ensure we are compliant with all local and regional requirements. As part of your role within the legal team, you will play a key role to the MiCAR project team as their advisor.
How will you make an impact?
- Being an integral part of the legal team, who are responsible for all regulatory and licensing issues relating to our business
- Advising stakeholders within the Technology, Product and Business domains, as well as the Management Board on regulatory aspects
- Assisting with licensing applications and regulatory engagements with key regulators in and outside of the Netherlands
- Monitoring crypto regulatory trends and developments, and working closely with our Compliance, Financial Crime and Risk teams
- Creating, reviewing and updating regulatory/legal frameworks, including policies, procedures, manuals and compliance registers to ensure compliance with any existing or upcoming regulation
- Advise the Chief Risk Officer and the Board on strategic matters
How will you be successful?
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably gained in the fintech industry, at a regulated financial institution and/or within a reputable law firm
- Demonstrated knowledge of MiFID and implementation experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the financial services; and preferably of the crypto regulatory environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Flexible mindset, the ability to work in a fast paced environment, as well as negotiation skills, ambition, resilience and resourcefulness
- Experience in the Dutch regulatory space is mandatory for this role
- Written and verbal communication in Dutch is highly preferred
