Technical Product Manager - Matching Engine

We are looking for a highly specialised Technical Product Manager to help us to improve the heart of Bitvavo - Matching engine. Join our Research & Development team and become part of one of the fastest growing tech companies in the Netherlands, on the eve of our European expansion.

What is the role about?

As a Technical Product Manager at Bitvavo, you will have an exciting opportunity to shape and make a real impact on the future of a leading European retail investment platform. You will be responsible for leading the product work for the Matching Engine domain, while in close contact with product teams and other parts of the business to understand their needs and map them against your internal backlog. You will be responsible for drafting a long-term roadmap for the team as well as preparing the strategy on how to adjust Bitvavo’s matching engine setup to stay compliant with existing rules, and prepare for new implementations and business growth.

How will you make an impact?

Matching engine team is responsible for the heart of Bitvavo’s exchange. This team is responsible for performance of our matching engine as well as managing balances of our users.

As a product manager of that team you will be working closely with a tech development team consisting of several backend developers and Engineering Manager and you will be responsible for:

• Creating roadmaps and setting priorities for the team
• Translating Company and Product strategy into team’s strategy
• Conducting market research and Market Makers interviews to identify their needs and industry benchmarks for Matching Engine performance
• Gathering requirements and creating specifications for new developments (for example order types, regulatory requirements, etc.)
• Monitoring and analysing data for Matching Engine performance and team’s KPIs
• Supporting Engineering Manager in driving timely delivery of planned initiatives and managing cross teams projects
• Managing stakeholders and keeping them informed about progress of the team as well as representing your team in planning and dependencies discussions

What do you need to be successful?

• 5+ years of experience in technical product management 
• Strong technical background
• Previous experience in financial products requiring high speed and performance (exchanges, brokers, trading companies)
• Understanding of financial markets, market microstructure and trading industry
• Strong delivery mindset and ability to manage cross-company projects 
• Detail orientation, thorough yet pragmatic attitude
• Experience with complex deployment planning
