Staff Database Engineer

What is the role about?
We are actively seeking a Staff Database Engineer, a pinnacle role in our technical hierarchy, to spearhead the growth and scalability of our AWS-centric environment. Your role is pivotal in architecting cutting-edge solutions, orchestrating seamless scalability, influencing strategic decisions, and driving innovation in our dynamic, high-transaction-rate setting, integral to our mission in cryptocurrency solutions.

How will you make an impact?

• Lead the design and implementation of highly complex and scalable MySQL databases on AWS cloud.
• Proactively drive performance enhancements, phase out legacy systems, and establish standards in DB-related subjects.
• Collaborate with other staff engineers to shape the company's technical direction, playing a crucial role in realizing its strategic vision. Simultaneously, mentor your team and forge close relationships with other teams to drive towards strategic goals.
• Ensure adherence to industry regulations, security to highest standards, and development of disaster recovery plans, that ensure organizational resilience in unforeseen challenges.
• Establish a secure and supportive environment for technical teams, fostering open communication about blockers and facilitating a culture where seeking help is encouraged.

How will you be successful? 

• Demonstrated leadership in designing and optimizing high-performance MySQL databases, coupled with hands-on expertise in AWS database technologies like RDS and Aurora, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, and time-series databases
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for leading and influencing cross-functional teams, contributing to strategic engineering efforts at the highest level.
• Proven leadership track record in pushing the boundaries in performance tuning, query optimization, and systematic troubleshooting.
• In-depth understanding and experience in database security principles and compliance standards.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools within the AWS ecosystem, with a focus on Infrastructure as Code and leveraging technologies as Docker and Kubernetes.
