About the Role
Bitvavo is expanding its Financial Crime department, and we are looking for a Financial Crime Officer to join the team. The core goal of this role is to ensure Bitvavo's high quality standards are maintained in every investigation. You will help prevent Bitvavo from being used for criminal activity, money laundering or terrorist financing, using your investigative experience to help the business manage risk prudently, working in line with Bitvavo's quality standards and instructions.
What You'll be Doing
The main objective of this role is to ensure the business operates within the risk appetite set by the Management Board, through your integrity investigations. You assess and manage operational risks day to day.
Conduct robust transaction monitoring to identify, analyse and investigate complex AML and fraud patterns
Handle in depth Enhanced Due Diligence cases with a keen eye for detail and risk assessment
Identify, investigate and mitigate risks associated with high risk industries and client profiles
Analyse customer behaviour, recognise trends and turn them into actionable signal patterns
Continuously improve existing first line processes
Report and escalate suspicious activity to the relevant departments or authorities
Collaborate with the team to establish and maintain best practices, policies and procedures, and keep up with regulatory developments
What We're Looking For
3 to 5 years of hands on experience in AML, CTF or KYC, ideally within financial services or fintech
Able to apply knowledge of external regulations to the organisation's goals while maintaining an independent position
Comfortable working in a fast paced, rapidly growing industry
Able to identify challenges, communicate them clearly, and turn them into opportunities
Entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem solving skills
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Desirable
Experience with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs or Elliptic
General knowledge of and interest in the crypto space
Experience working in a dynamic scale up environment
