At Bitvavo, we’re on a mission to become the leading cryptocurrency exchange in Europe. As we continue to scale our operations across multiple countries, we are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team within Finance.
This role is ideal for someone with 2–4 years of hands-on payroll experience who is ready to deepen their expertise, take ownership of defined payroll activities, and grow into a broader international payroll role over time. You will work closely with senior payroll colleagues, the People team, and external partners to ensure our employees are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
Support the execution of end-to-end payroll processes for employees in the Netherlands and other EMEA locations
Ensure payroll data is accurate and up to date by collaborating closely with the People team
Assist with compliance with Dutch tax laws, labor regulations, and internal policies
Handle employee questions related to payroll, payslips, taxes, and benefits in a clear and timely manner
Work with external payroll providers, tax advisors, and authorities under guidance of senior team members
Support payroll reconciliations, including GL accounts and WKR accruals
Prepare payroll-related reports for internal stakeholders and audits
Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the payroll function
What We Look For
2–4 years of experience working in a payroll-related role
A practical diploma in Payroll Administration (PDL) or equivalent is a plus
Solid understanding of Dutch payroll, tax regulations, and social security (international exposure is a plus)
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data
High attention to detail and a structured way of working
A proactive, learning-oriented mindset and willingness to grow into more responsibility
Fluency in English
