In 2018, Bitvavo launched the first version of its digital assets trading platform, to bridge the gap between traditional currencies and digital assets. By offering transparent fees, a wide range of assets and an easy to use platform, Bitvavo is making the currency of the future accessible for everyone.
In two years' time, Bitvavo has established itself as the market leader in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe, with over one million users exchanging tens of billions of digital assets a year.
Our team, located in Amsterdam, is looking for self-driven, talented people who can help make digital assets available for everyone.
About the Opportunity
We are a rapidly growing engineering organisation making digital assets accessible to our customers. To meet the demands of our growing customer base and an increasing number of assets offered, we are expanding our core backend teams to drive innovation with a focus on designing and implementing cutting-edge low-latency services with an aim for enabling seamless customer experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Implementing scalable secure cloud adoption - Partnering with engineering teams to design and implement secure, scalable systems on the cloud, ensuring strict requirements around latency, availability, and resilience are consistently met.
Architect security by design: Collaborate closely with platform and infrastructure teams to deeply understand their architectures, then work backward to design and embed scalable, cloud-native security controls.
Cross-functional security collaboration: Work in close partnership with other security functions, including Product Security and Security Operations (SOC), to ensure a holistic approach to risk management and threat mitigation.
Shape technology choices with security input: Contribute to decisions on cloud services, infrastructure, and tools ensuring security requirements are addressed.
Participate in operational rotations to resolve incidents and regular security findings in our production environment
What We Look For
Proven experience: 6+ years of hands-on experience in cloud security, with deep expertise in AWS. Experience in the Fintech sector is a strong plus.
Security services at scale: Track record of designing, building, scaling, and maintaining security solutions that strengthen overall cloud and platform security posture.
Cloud-native environments: Solid experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) in cloud-first environments.
Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with IaC tools (we use Terraform) and automation practices to build and secure infrastructure efficiently.
Collaboration and communication: Strong ability to engage with cross-functional stakeholders—from engineers to leadership—to understand requirements, drive security discussions, and influence architecture and decision-making.
Bonus skills: Open-source contributions, conference talks, and/or recognized security certifications (e.g., OSCP, CKM, CKS) are a plus.
